Sunday Church
On Sundays, we head to church around 8:00 am so Jon can practice with the worship team until 10:00 when the service starts. Also, on Thursday night worship practice the Browns have been so nice as to have Shortie and Bubba over while they practice. Thomas and Ben (I believe either 9 or 10 years old, and 8 years old) and their Dad, Andrew play with Shortie and Bubba while everyone else practices the music. Shortie and Bubba are around the music so much that they try to play the guitars, keys, and drums. Shortie will also sing all the songs... its great! After church they play around on the drums, and sing in the microphones... so here is a little video of the drums.

silly shirt story
I was working on my guitar painting, and Jon was doing dishes, while the kids played on the back patio. Jon changed his shirt to a wife beater brown A-frame tank shirt (whatever you want to call it). Shortie walked in and said "Hey, Dad, why are you wearing Moms shirt?" It was so funny. Both Jon and I started busting up laughing... I know a lot of my friends use to make fun of me for having so many brown tanks, but I thought I had expanded to different colors and styles...but I guess not enough if Shortie thinks Dads manly tank is Moms. She then went on to say "Mommy and Shortie have those shirts, not Daddy!' Even worse - I bought her a few of them too, in brown and green... like I said in the other post, poor Shortie didn't have anything pink for the first two years of her life unless someone else bought it and someone else got her dressed... just wanted to share our laughter
:O) Jon is still laughing at the comment...

Tropical Storm
We are getting pounded by tropical storm Hanna. Rain, lots of Rain!!!
We were out of milk - which is a big deal for Shortie and Bubba - they just recently started drinking milk - lots of it! So we headed to the store.
When we got home a few minutes later it was really pouring! We knew we'd get wet, but we didn't know we get that wet. Jon reached over his seat and un-did Shortie's car seat, then she climbed down to her door. So he got out of the car and opened her door, when he went to grab the milk Shortie climbed back in the front of the car because she didn't want to get wet (although she was already soaked)... finally she got out of the car and went inside... (we have hers on video)
Bubba on the other hand was left up to me... and Baby Zek. I looked behind me and saw that he still had his rain boots on (which is great, because then I wouldn't have to stand in the rain with him in the car trying to put them on), so I got out of the car (now its pouring even harder) and un-did his car seat and put him down so he could run in the house... well, his boots were on, but not all the way. His heal was stuck mid boot. So, I had to bend over and fight the boots to go on. My entire back was drenched. Not a dry spot (thank goodness its a warm storm).
Then Bubba walked maybe five feet and stopped frozen just looking at his feet. His entire body was one with the rain. Nothing remained dry. I stood there watching him - laughing -- really laughing! Here is my child getting drenched by this down pour and he is standing frozen in a muddy puddle! I had a debate with myself to grab the camera and record his silly antics or to just grab baby Zek and make a run for it hoping Bubba would follow. I wish I had recorded Bubba - but I was too afraid to open my purse which was already in the rain, and risk getting everything wet - including the camera. So instead I grabbed a blanket covered as much of Baby Zek's car seat as possible and took off for the house. Jon came to the rescue at that moment and scooped Bubba up running for inside - he too was cracking up when he saw Bubba frozen in the rain.
I bet our neighbors were either laughing at us laughing at Bubba, or they think we are terrible parents ---
We all felt as if we took a shower with our clothes on --- every ounce of us was wet! Except for Zek, thank God we had a very thick blanket that absorbed all the rain, and the canopy of his car seat was good quality - making a puddle instead of it soaking through and dripping on him. But, man, it was so funny watching the older kiddos in the rain!
Here is Bubba after we came in and changed, his hair was still soaked!
Here I am, soaking wet... it was dripping off my chin! (click to enlarge it, and I think you can see all the water)

Beds
So, I finally broke, and did something that I said I'd never do... one of those things that when you are younger you say "when I have kids I'll never...." and then you have kids and realize why parents do certain things, or let their kids do certain things, or heck, even let their kids out of the house looking the way they do sometimes...

well, I said I would never have their rooms be character themes - I broke. Bubba now has a train bedspread, and Shortie has Disney Princesses. Its only for while we are out here for the winter - then back to normal (I hope).
Although it is funny because I hate pink - poor Shortie for the first two years really had nothing pink - now I love it for her - I miss her pink and green pottery barn style room... And now, she has tons and tons of pink princess things (although she still has yet to see a disney 'princess' movie) and Bubba -- I dont mind the train theme - I just wish it was more of a true old style looking train ... with engines painted on the walls ... a classic look - accompanied by his thomas the train toys (instead of Thomas being the theme) .. Yes, I know I am odd...

Kids & Flour
So this morning I was changing Baby Zek in our room, when I heard the kids getting into something... as I came walking into the living room they ran out of the kitchen and jumped on the couches--- covered in flour!!!
I had left a bowl of bread flour out (we buy it in 25 pound bags, and keep it in the pantry, but last night I made cinnamon rolls and had extra flour in a bowl for kneading the dough...I left it out to use today for the tomato bread... my mistake) Usually I let the kids help me make bread, so they know how to mix it and knead it and what not. Since they already got into the flour, I figured I'd let them have fun with it and pretend to make their own bread.... I didn't think they could make such a mess.... we all enjoyed it, mess and all!

Church BBQ
So for Labor Day our church had a BBQ at the Morrow's and the Millar's house (they live next door to each other)... It was a blast!!! We were there for 6 hours, and we all loved every minute of it!!

Shortie and Bubba had a ton of fun playing with all the other kids (Evergreen has more kids than any other church we've ever gone to). Between just chasing other kids, the pool, trampolines, swings, play sets, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and bikes - they had a blast and were very busy little kiddos. At the end of the night we had a bon-fire - which of course Shortie and Bubba loved!
oh - and it was a really cool experience having all the babies there - Baby Zek was the oldest at 8 weeks, then was Lilly at 6 weeks, then Kaydee was 4 weeks, Kyra was 3 weeks, and Ella was 2 weeks (hopefully I didn't misspell too many names). It was fun having 5 babies all around the same age! Not to mention there are three other girls that have their birthday's within three weeks of Shortie's... its fun having so many kids the same age!
So here is Bubba riding around backwards on the bike... he thought he was cool! And then, this is Bubba getting a drink of lemonade - but it was super funny because right before this picture he was on his knees with his mouth under it drinking away, I went to take a picture and a few of us started laughing and he got embarrassed - so I missed the picture moment! Also, a picture of Shortie just relaxin' having fun.

This was our fire... & the kids loving it!
