Fantastic Weekend!

At Jons new job he works every other Saturday. In his line of work (he is an Assistant Service Manager at Lexus -- actually a really good dealership!) it is common to work lots of Saturdays, so we knew he would be working some but we didn't know how many or if he would get a day off in the week if he had to work Saturday. We are so thankful that when he works a Saturday he gets the Wednesday before off, and the first Saturday that he works in a month he gets the previous Monday off - giving him a three day weekend! Awesome! We were just blessed with our three day weekend (it made up for not having memorial day off) and we had such a blast! We had really missed going out and enjoying our time as a family so this weekend was exactly what we needed!

Zekie loves working in his preschool book - he wanted to do a few pages before we left and Shortie enjoys watching him. She's a proud big sister.

Trying to get one more page before we head out.

On Saturday we met up with some friends of Jon's from California, actually from our church back home. They live only a few miles from us! What a small world! It was so refreshing to be out and to have someone to relate to. They have two children, very adorable, energetic, and fun! We are so thankful they invited us and showed us this very fun splash park and walking trails (and its all free - even better).
Conrad all wrapped up in a towel in 95 degree Texas weather!

Shortie loved the splash park!

poor baby Grae is teething and we woke her up to get out of the car, she finally started to play right when it was time to go. But she looked so cute in her suit!

it was so hot we 'had' to stop for slushies after the park!

Silly Zekie and Mocha Dog trying to get some - and me slightly burned

this is Conrad's "cold" face

she has four loose teeth! The top on is so crooked as it is nearly ready to come out!

On Monday headed back over to the splash park. We had been planning on playing in the big play ground and then heading over the to splash park. Jon packed a picnic with hopes of sitting by the pond and hanging out after all the playing. However with once we got there we decided we would go for a walk around the pond on the trails. It was so beautiful! It still amazes us how many places around town have been planned with families in mind, or for people seeking to be active, or to simple take in the outdoors. We all had a blast walking the trail, watching the butterflies, finding turtles, seeing fish, beautiful  birds, learning about the different types of trees. It was such a blessing to have family time! My camera died shortly after we started the walk - cell phone to the rescue! Hopefully I'll post those pictures later this week.

so pretty!

there were butterflies everywhere! Some were huge and so beautiful. This one stayed on me for a good while. The kids loved how the butterflies would just come and land on us. There were also the most beautiful red dragon flies I've ever seen.

Later that afternoon we heading over to my Uncle Larry and Aunt Julies house for a family get together. My grandma's sister was in town from Cali as well as her grand daughter Nikki from Arizona.  It was a little bit of a drive with traffic to get there (an hour and 15 minutes) but it is so sweet to have the kids around my extended family. When Shortie and Dallas were born (they are six weeks apart) we all lived out in southern Cali - it will be so fun to look back on photos when they are older of all the times they spent together from being newborns, to toddlers, to silly school girls - and if God's willing through the teenager years.

Instantly having girl talk - we are in trouble when they are teenagers!
